Our Maths SMARTies

(Dec 2014/June 2015)

Target language:

Description:
Creation of scenarii using an IWB software
(14/15 years old)

Work's steps:

Activity 1 : OUR PUPILS
● Each pupil creates a personal presentation, inserting his/her own picture, and illustrating it with cliparts or photos.
● Each country brings out all presentations in an ebook.

Activity 2 : OUR SCHOOL/OUR AREA
Pupils present their schools through photos, and they also mail real postcards to partners to make them discover our respective areas.
Activity 3 :  Interactive Maths Activities
Pupils are going to create some interactive Maths activities on a Smart IWB, using the SmartNoteBook software.
● Pupils work by groups of 3 or 4, and a name is given to each team.
Spain : 12 groups of 4 pupils
France : 5 groups of 3 pupils + 1 group of 4 pupils >>> 6 groups
● In agreement with the our respective maths curriculums, pupils are going to imagine some scenarios in order to create one interactive activity per group (topics related with numeracy) >>> 6 math activities to create in each country
Spain : 1 activity per group and selection of 6 items among 12 >>> 6 items
France : 1 activity per group >>> 6 items
Then each country builds one activity which topics are related with geometry (2D-shapes; 3D-shapes).
● Spanish teams will test French activities, and vice-versa.
We could make videos of pupils while they are testing the activities.
● We ask our pupils to publish their impressions on the project on a wall.

Bonus Activities
1) Christmas
Each pupil writes his Christmas wishes on a poster that is mailed to the partners before Christmas. We do a short video of our pupils telling their wishes all together.
2) Easter
Pupils create personalized Easter cards for their partners, and we mail them.

Expected results:
- to link Maths and ICT creating funny activities
- to improve our pupils'skills in Maths and English
- to develop pupils'creativity and critical faculty
- to use ICT for the creation of several documents and for the communication between pupils
