Description:
Creation of 2 decks of cards about numeracy and geometry
(13/15 years old)

Work's steps: 


Activity 1 : OUR PUPILS

● We match pupils, so that each pupil has one or more penfriend, depending on the numbers of pupils in each country.

● Each pupil creates a personal presentation, inserting his/her own picture, and illustrating it with cliparts or photos about cards.

● Each country brings out all presentations in an ebook

Activity 2 : OUR SCHOOL/OUR AREA

Pupils present their schools through photos, and they also could send real postcards to partners to make them discover our respective areas.

Activity 3 :  OUR MATH OLD MAID GAMES

We are going to create 2 decks of cards.

The value of each card is determined thanks to a calculation or a question about Maths topics.

Deck n° 1 : about geometry                     Deck n° 2 : About numeracy

● Pupils begin to study the Old Maid rules in English.

● Then they work in pairs.

● The back of all cards is the same, showing general informations about our project.

● Each deck contains 52 cards, so 13 cards for each suit (spades, clubs, diamonds, hearts).

For example, Portuguese pupils work on spades/clubs, and French pupils on diamonds/hearts.

"spades/clubs" or "diamonds/hearts" = 26 cards

so 20 cards 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10 + 6 cards King - Queen - Jack

We use common notions of our respective maths curriculums.

About the 20 cards, each number 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10 will be represented by a definition about geometrical topics (deck n°1), or by a calculation (deck n°2).

About the 6 cards, we show 3 different personalized pictures (for example, the entrance of our school, our pupils group, our town, ...).
On each card, next to the symbol, there will be the flag of the country who created the questions.

● Each Portuguese pupil receive one exemplary of the deck created by the French students, and vice versa.

● We make videos of the pupils playing cards.


Bonus Activities
1) Christmas
Pupils prepare a poster all together, and each of them writes on it Christmas wishes for his/her penfriend. The poster is sent to the partners before Christmas. We do a short video of our pupils telling their wishes all together.
2) Easter
Pupils create personalized Easter cards for their penfriends.
3) Chat session
We organize a chat session between pupils.





Expected results:
- To link Maths and Games creating funny activities
- To improve our pupils'skills in Maths and English
- To use ICT for the creation of several documents and for the communication between pupils- A great cooperation between France and Portugal
- Having fun with Maths, games and English
- Encouragement of pupils
